Palmdale Regional Medical Center has been designated an Aetna Institute of Quality® Bariatric Surgery Facility for treating individuals living with morbid, or extreme, obesity.
Aetna makes information about the quality and cost of healthcare services available to its members to help them make informed decisions about their healthcare needs. In line with this goal, Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that offer specialized clinical services for certain health conditions. Facilities are selected for consistently delivering evidence-based, safe care.
“The history of our weight-loss program reflects the dedication, compassion, safety and excellence in care that our team members exhibit when connecting with our patients,” said Nana Deeb, Chief Executive Officer, Palmdale Regional Medical Center. “We are very proud to accept this designation from Aetna and are dedicated to continuing to shine through this award-winning program.”
“Although receiving these types of designations and awards are typical of our program, it never gets old to receive the recognition,” said Dr. John Yadegar, Medical Director of Palmdale Regional’s Metabolic and Bariatric Surgical Program. “It’s a testament to the deep-rooted and unwavering commitment of our entire Bariatric team to our patients, and to achieving ongoing excellent outcomes. I’m greatly indebted to our dedicated staff for this great achievement.”
Palmdale Regional Medical Center offers three minimally invasive surgical weight-loss options: adjustable gastric banding, laparoscopic gastric bypass and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. It is important that patients understand that no one procedure is the best choice for all cases. Each patient is assessed as an individual, with consideration given to their medical history, current medical conditions and other factors.
In addition, long-term success with any of the procedures depends on the patient’s adaptation to a healthier lifestyle, including smaller portions of healthy food, daily exercise, supplementation and ongoing support.
